MERCK Germany

Merck, one of the largest companies in the pharmaceutical industry asked us at Landor Associates to develop a new corporate identity. Unique about Merck is the fact that it has been a family owned company since it was founded by Emanuel Merck back in 1668. The idea behind my logo proposal was to convey the creative spirit of Merck by putting the logo type in brackets reminiscent of a chemical formula. The plus sign above the bracket indicates the positive charge of this imaginary “Merck element” and emphasises the exploring spirit.
